DPF PEOPLE
Doing what they do best, working as a team to look after people, ‘its what we do’ …..
Welcome from
DPF Patron
Every day, Police officers walk the thin blue line, protecting others and putting themselves potentially in harm’s way. It’s important that we as a community of Police officers come together to help those that need our support and love. Together we can achieve great things.
The Doyle Phillips Foundation are actively seeking volunteers who would like to get more heavily involved with our Events Planning Team. The team will assist committee members and trustees with the creation of, planning and delivery of events.

James Watson
Hello, my name is James Watson.
I am a serving Police Officer and committee member for the Doyle Phillips Foundation.
I was a friend and colleague of Neil’s and learned a lot from him during the early days of my career. Following on from Neil’s tragic death Sarah became a close friend of mine. I came on board with the Foundation to help bring to fruition Sarah’s vision to support all bereaved Police families, both Officer and Staff, in memory of Neil and Dave.
I am immensely proud to be on the committee of this great charity and to be able to use my position to keep Neil’s memory alive for all of those who were fortunate enough to know him and to tell all those who didn’t how profound the effect his friendship has been on me both personally and professionally.

Stuart McLoughlin
Hello, my name is Stuart McLoughlin and I am a committee member for the Doyle Phillips foundation.
I was a friend and colleague of Neil Doyle and knew him since the day he joined the police. I also had the pleasure of becoming friends with Neil’s wife during his time in the police.
After Neil’s death I offered Sarah support and it is something Sarah always reminds me that was greatly received.
I hope the Doyle Phillips foundation can bring the same support and advice to families who are put in unfortunate situations.

Sharon English
Hi everyone, I’m Sharon English. A current serving Police Officer for Merseyside Police.
I had the absolute honour and privilege to meet PC Dave “Disco” Phillips on day one as a student officer and worked with him for many years on the Wirral. I then equally had the same honour and privilege to meet PC Neil Doyle when I transferred to Eaton Road Police Station. When I was asked to become a committee member for the DPF, knowing both fallen heroes, was an absolute no brainer for me and I jumped at the opportunity! To be able to be a part of such an outstanding charity which offers help and support to families of fallen officers is an absolute tribute to my thin blue line brothers and sisters.
I am a complete adrenaline junkie so will absolutely be throwing myself into the crazy future fundraising events we have planned!! Stay tuned and I hope to see you at them!!

Gareth Olley
I have been a police officer for over 20 years with Merseyside Police and come from a real police family, with my mum, dad, brother, uncle & cousin all serving within Merseyside & Lancashire at some point.
As a result of this, not only do I have a strong blood connection to the police service, I also feel a strong bond to the whole police family and I feel privileged to be part of the Doyle-Phillips Foundation to support my extended ‘family’ during their times of need.
Having created a group called ‘Cops Cycle for Kids’ back in 2012, whereby a group of us took on cycling challenges to raise money for children’s charities, I have now focussed my fundraising attention on the Doyle-Phillips Foundation.
I have always believed that if you are raising money for charity you have to be prepared to challenge yourself and suffer in order for people to hand over their hard earned cash. These relative challenges may range from someone recovering from serious injury or illness and getting back to walking a mile, right through to someone running an ultra-marathon.
I am always trying to come up with new ideas for endurance challenges that will help this amazing charity raise the much needed funds to help our amazing police family.

Mark Cole
Hi I am Mark Cole and I have been a police officer for over 14 years. `Previously I served over 24 years in the Royal Air Force regiment. I have always been passionate in supporting my military and police colleagues and their families during my careers. I have always been very passionate about charities and supporting those who need support those who need support, love and care. I have been involved in many charitable events to raise funds for our charities. I was fortunate to work indirectly with both Neil Doyle and Dave Phillips. Both of their tragic deaths had a massive impact on all members of the police service both in Merseyside and nationally. I have had the upmost privilege to have ridden for both officers during recent Unity Tour cycle rides and continue to ride for those who have died each year. Then when Sarah Doyle (a true and remarkable lady) first mentioned the concept of The Doyle Phillips Foundation (DPF) to provide more holistic support not only to police officers but also to support staff and families of Merseyside Police and would I be a committee member for the foundation I was in shock but said YES with so much pride. I am today proud to be a part of DPF to ensure all those families who serve are provided with the support love and care should they find themselves in a position of need, no matter what the circumstance.

I am Sarah’s cousin and had the pleasure of knowing Neil for over 16 years and know his passion for helping people was second to none so when Sarah told me about setting up the foundation, it was a no brainer that I was going to be involved and support her and the other family members.

Dave Hulligan
Hi my name is Dave Hulligan , I am a serving officer currently providing student officers with support along their learning journey. I can only hope new recruits can show an ounce of the compassion and care Doyley showed during his career.
I joined the police family with Doyley in the same class at Bruche were we had some funny times.
I also worked alongside Doyley for a number of years watching him speed into the nick as he was running late.
I never knew Dave but from what I hear he and Doyley shared the same values.
Values which I will try my upmost to uphold and inspire to future officers.

Shaun Bainbridge
My name is Shaun Bainbridge, and I hold the position of Treasurer for The Doyle Phillips Foundation.
I had the honour of being friends with Neil Doyle, working alongside him and experiencing situations that demonstrated his uncanny ability to empathise with people regardless of what situation they were facing. He truly was a man who was able to utilise communication as one of his key skills.
I no longer work for the Police, but am skill keenly aware of the need to be involved in supporting those families that unfortunately find themselves in circumstances of grief and uncertainty.
I am privileged to be able to drive this Foundation forward in the name of my friend and his family.
